The gap

Most people think human trafficking involves kidnapping and prostitution, or people from other countries. While it certainly can be this, more often human trafficking is homegrown sexual and labor exploitation of people you know, by people they know.

The research

It’s difficult to see the crime of human trafficking, even for the person who’s been trafficked, especially when you are in a vulnerable situation and the relationship with your trafficker meets your needs at some level (food, housing, paid labor).

The strategy

Let’s help victims see that they’re worth more than their situation.

The creative

It’s not a relationship. It’s a violationship.

A blurred person walks past a movie poster for “ViolationShip,” which has an orange and white design and a release date of 05.15.26. A crowded theater audience watches a large screen showing a close-up of hands holding papers labeled “VIOLATION” with listed offenses. A close-up of a pamphlet shows bold text about helping victims of trafficking, with a section titled “VIOLATIONSHIP” and information on recognizing signs of exploitation. Two pink business cards for Put You First Beauty. One side has the brand name and slogan, the other displays a supportive message, contact number, and website on a tiled surface.

The results

11,410 website visitors in one month, more than 54,000 YouTube views, and within 24 hours of launch, Google’s AI Overview defined “Violationship” based on the idea.
